10 DAY  Itinerary: Tented Safari

Leave Lilongwe at 8 a.m and head out towards the lake Malawi.Stop for lunch at Nkhotakhota Pottery, where you will have a chance to buy some of Malawi’s famous pottery and enjoy lunch.

After lunch we take a beautiful scenic drive up the lake shore to the Chinteche Strip where the day finishes at Kande Beach Camp to chill out in a hammock, do some diving at Aqua-Nuts, and also some horse riding at Kande horses. For some culture experience there is a village walk and a village meal.We also visit the rubber plantation, Nhkata Bay, port of the hundred year old ferry the ILALA which takes you to Chizimulu Island.Hang out in Nhkata bay at one of the many backpackers like, Big Blue Backpackers, Butterfly lodge, Mayoka Village and many more. Further north we head for Vwaza Mars and Nyika Plateau. We also go on game drives and game walks and spend a day at Chitimba beach to relax and then head back via the tobacco fields.

Stop for lunch and spend some time at The Pottery to purchase  various pottery. The pottery is adorned with paintings depicting the history of the town and its association to the slave trade.

The Malawian Northbound Tour

Spend some time at Kande Beach Camp on the Chinteche Strip, home to Malawi’s most beautiful beaches.Here you can soak up the atmosphere in the fishing village of Nkhata Bay. You will do a walking safari across  the spectacular rolling hills of the Nyika Plateau National Park.Thereafter you can view the elephants and hippos at the Vwaza Marsh – Malawi’s unspoilt wilderness.

At Kande Beach Camp, you can swim, enjoy a drink at the bar, or just lay in a hammock. Chalet Accommodation and Dinner are included.



Kande Horse Stables is located in the Northern Malawi near the shores of its great lake.Nestled amongst Brachystegia Woodlands, The Kande Horse Homestead and Stables is truly a breathtaking sight, surprising all who visit. It is the largest horse stables in Malawi with currently 29 horses of various breeds ranging from Basotho to Thoroughbreds.

Day 5

The Day starts with a short drive to Nkhata Bay through Malawi’s rubber plantations. Here you will have a chance to walk around this small fishing village and soak up the local atmosphere.

Accommodation is right on the waterfront at Chikale Beach where the beautiful chalets provide the perfect spot to unwind. Accommodation is included.

Day 6

Leave for Vwaza Marsh in the morning on another spectacular scenic drive through some of Malawi’s most unspoilt wilderness.

Once at the camp, you can enjoy either walking or vehicle based safaris. Included in the price is tented accommodation. Chalet upgrades are available (subject to availability).


Day 7

The day is spent on the plateau, where you can go on a walking safari with a trained guide. All meals are provided and the day ends with another idyllic evening beside the campfire. Park entrance and camping fees are included.

Day 8

This day will start earlier as it is a longer drive through the spectacular scenery of the Mzuzu Hills.We arrive at Chelinda Camp late afternoon to enjoy a sundowner.Here you can watch the antelope and zebras stroll over the unique landscape of Nyika Plateau.We will camp on the plateau in order to be close to the wildlife whilst enjoying the warmth of the campfire.

Day 9

Breakfast can be enjoyed whilst watching the larger mammals such as Hippos, Elephants, Kudu and Impala coming down for their morning drink.The rest of the day is spent either enjoying game drives or simply soaking up the atmosphere of this very special wilderness.

Day 10

Transfer back to Lilongwe through the tobacco fields of inland Malawi to arrive back late afternoon/early evening.
